Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare Review (No Spoilers)

The final installment for The Infernal Devices, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clair promised; danger, betrayal, secrets and enchantments. And she delivered. Clare forgot to mention your heart would be exercised with all the feels. Reading the last page I felt I was left shattered on the rocks with no stele to draw an iratze. Kudos Cassie.

The plot was well written and had so many twist and turns that I was constantly surprised. There was a lot going on in the book but Clare was concise and clear in executing the story while keeping the warmth of the characters. Every page till the very last brought with it anxiety, heart ache, happiness and regret. Regret knowing each page I turned I was coming closer to end. In my mind I never really knew how it was going to conclude I was hoping that Clare would be kind and spare our hearts. The end was more than I expected and truly beautiful. A fitting end to the trilogy.

Cassie is gifted at pulling the heart strings like Jem's violin. I have only cried once before over a book and that was The City of Glass. Clockwork Princess is the second book that made me shed a tear. Shedding a tear is putting it lightly. In all honesty I cried like a baby. No I cried like my boyfriend broke up with me on our anniversary to be with my bestfriend and was also told the book store ran out of copies of  The Clockwork Princess. Congrats Clare for giving my heart a good exercise. This is truly your gift from the angel ;)

Any fans of supernatural romance or who enjoy a well thought out story that will grab your heart, I highly recommend this book. But be sure to read start at the beging with Clockwork Angel, then work your way to CP2. I have to say hand on heart this is my favourite book of  Clare. I must now go back and reread the whole Mortal Instruments again. I am sure there are hidden bread crumbs that will now shine like gems that is linked to the Infernal Devices. I do hope in the coming books of shadowhunters that some characters from the Clockwork Princess make an appearance.

Every page I turned with reluctance for I knew the end was ever imposing. Post Clockwork Princess - Infernal Devices I am having withdrawal symptoms. I had immersed myself in the world of Will, Jem and Tessa for years. Now I have to live in this glamoured world with no option of Ascension.

“Life is a book, and there are a thousand pages I have not read yet.” - Will Herondale

Thank you Cassandra for sharing the hidden world beyond the veil. I don't know where I will go from here. I will just have to bear it, as Magnus will say.

By the angel my time at the London Institute was not enough :(

  1. What a beautiful review and so well written. Your analogy of crying like a baby couldn't have been stronger. I felt the emotional pull this novel had on you. Cassandra Clare must be over the moon because of your enthusiasm for her books, Angela.
    The cover is awesome too.
