The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter Review
The
Goddess Test by Aimee Carter was a pleasant unexpected find. Kate
Winters is the main character and doesn't know that she is part of a
grander plan. Her mother is clinging to life in her mortal shell. Kate
then makes a desperate contract with a mysterious stranger that changes
everything she knew and believed. The book title is pretty graphic
and she does endure challenges with a reward that is do die for. Or not
;)
Any
fan of mythology especially that of Hades and Persephone will find this
is a great fresh take on the stories. Even if you're not a fan, the
book is a great read. The book will make you think twice about the myths
and will place the God of the underworld into a new romantic light. I
would recommend any reader who is into myths, love stories, supernatural
romance or any reader who wants an escape from this manic world. This is an easy read. There
are no great fight scenes or car chases, but get a nice flowing story.
Carter
has made me reassess my perception on Hades and has
convinced me he is not the evil God that he is portrayed. But a
misunderstood vulnerable being that is longing to love and be loved; just like any
mere mortal. The book was a breezy read but still had its compelling moments.
Love historical fiction? Check out the Goddess of Spring.
